The new YMCA Incubator

Transforming your region. Promoting innovation in our communities. Empowering young people for active participation and socially driven entrepreneurship. StartUp YMCA is the first YMCA incubator, meant to be an engine for incubation and acceleration of business and non-business entrepreneurs willing to solve a regional, national or international problem through an innovative project. As we guide, advise and prompt networking between the incubated projects and our partnerships, we aim to provide the best mentorship and collaborative partners for these fresh concepts.

Call for projects - Startup YMCA Bootcamp

We're launching a Call for Projects for all YMCA Youth groups aged 18-30 with no limits on the number of young people that can participate. The selected projects will be chosen to participate in Startup YMCA Bootcamp, without any associated expenses at the location (including accommodation and food). The cost of transportation has to be supported by the participants or their local branches of YMCA.

The bootcamp will be on June 4th, 5th and 6th at YMCA Alambre Camp in Setúbal, Portugal.

The StartUp YMCA Bootcamp will provide a chance to generate, discuss, and implement innovative solutions to address social and environmental challenges by launching a project or launching a social enterprise. We're convinced that the global involvement of YMCA's youth (aged 18–30) will make a difference, not only inside the organization, but also take those projects back home and make an impact in our communities.

Applications

From February to April applicants need to fill in a online form. You also need to send us your Europass CV and a project description (if you have one already).

For groups, there is a limit of 2 people per group/project.

Applicant’s Profile

Age: from 18 to 30 years old.

Good level of English: mandatory, for the Bootcamp’s official language will be English.

We are looking for people with new ideas and the will to make change happen through social entrepreneurship with a sustainable business model. Everyone is free to apply to this Open Call and attend the bootcamp.

As we choose whitin the applicants, we value the applicant’s experience in social work (or YMCA volunteers) and the applicant’s knowledge or practice in business.

Proposed calendar

• February 19th: The Open Call for Projects is published and open for applications
• March 31st: Call for Projects closes for new applicants
• From April 1st to the 8th: We will choose within the applications and contact those projects

/people to start organizing the trips to Portugal.
